Lunar Shadow are a band from Germany that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a mixture of melodic black and power metal with some elements of post and indie rock and this is a review of their 2021 album "Wish To Leave" which will be released in February by Cruz Del Sur Music.
Rain and thunder sounds start off the album along with some acoustic guitars a few seconds later before adding in some melodic guitar solos and leads that are very heavily rooted in traditional metal. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them.
Synths can also be heard briefly while the vocals are done in mostly in a power metal style along with the riffs also adding a great amount of melody. A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length as well as some spoken word parts also being added into certain sections of the recording.
The songs also add in a great amount of post and indie rock elements along with the music only retaining a small amount of the black metal touched that where present on the previous releases and all of the music sticks to mostly a slow or mid tempo direction as well as the closing track adding in a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. The production sounds very professional while t he lyrics cover a wish to leave everything behind.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Lunar Shadow and if you are a fan of melodic black and power metal with some touches of post and indie rock, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Serpents Die" and "The Darkness Between the Stars". 8 out of 10.
