Shadow Dancers are a duo from Norway that plays an avant garde mixture of black, dark and gothic metal and this is a review of their 2026 album "The Cumback" which was released by Old House Records.
Goth rock style synths and pianos start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with some spoken words also being used briefly and ther clear vocals also add in an avant garde style.
A small amount of black metal screams are also utilized at times while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody and some of the guitars also add in more of an 80's deathrock style. Elements of dark metal are also used quite a bit throughout the album along with some tracks also adding in a small amount of clean playing, female vocals can also be heard briefly and the whole album also sticks to a slower direction.
Shadow Dancers plays a musical style that takes black, d ark, gothic and avant garde metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, violent, occult and apocalyptic themes.
In my opinion Shadow Dancers are a very great sounding avant garde mixture of black, dark and gothic metal and if you are a fan of those musical g enres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Streets of Amsterdam" "Back In BusineSS" and "Dusk(On The Borderline)". 8 out of 10.
