Trollfest are a band from Norway that h as had music reviewed before in this zine and plays folk metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Flamingo Overload" which was released by Napalm Records.
Spoken word parts start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the vocals also add in a good mixture of clear vocals and aggressive screams which also add in a touch of black metal. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard and folk instruments are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs at times.
Saxophones can also be heard in some parts of the recording while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one track also adding in a brief use of slide guitars.
Back up vocals are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with some songs also adding in some pop music style choruses as well as one track also introducing hip hop style vocals and funk beats onto the album, when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover drinking, partying and humorous themes.
In my opinion this is another decent sounding album from Trollfest and if you are a f an of folk metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dance Like A Pink Flamingo" "Twenty Miles An Hour" "Rule The Country" and "Bob Venke". 7/5 out of 10.
