This is a review of another recording from Germany's Rabenwolf which continues the epic mixture of folk and black metal from their previous release and the album was self released in 2019 and called "...zu Staub".
An epic sounding keyboard instrumental starts off the album before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody along with folk instruments also being mixed in with the heavier sections of t he songs at times.
All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while clear pagan vocals are also added into some parts of the album. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with one song also adding in a brief use of spoken word parts.
Clean playing is also added on some of the tracks along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats as well as some of the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover Paganism and Nature themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Rabenwolf and if you are a fan of epic black and folk metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Staub" "Gezeiten" "Sturmzeit" and "Livhter Des Morgens". 8 out of 10.
