Bryan Eckermann/Return To Helmbrook/Bonespill Recordings/2026 Full Length Review

Texas'  solo  project  Bryan  Eckermann  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  melodic  and  symphonic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2026  album  "Return  To  Helmbrook"  which  was  released  by  Bonespill  Recordings.

Symphonic  sounding  keyboards  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Clean  playing  is  also  used  at  times  along  with elements  of  death  metal  also  being  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  album  and    when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard

Spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  songs  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  music  also  adding  a  more  modern  approach  to  the  genre.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while t he  lyrics  are  a  concept  album  based  upon  a  horror  story  which  takes  place  in  Helmbrook with  some  references  to  the  occult.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Bryan  Eckermann  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  melodic  and  symphonic  black  and  death  emtal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "10  Years"  "Apparitions  In  The  Attic"  "The  Spirit  World"  and  "Tragic  Endings".  8  out  of  10.
