Witching are a band from Pennsylvania that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of post black, sludge, doom and death metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Incedium" which was released by Translation Loss Records.
Clean playing starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of tremolo picking and brutal blast beats. Vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls and the riffs also add in a lot of melody.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the slower sections of the songs also bring in elements of sludge and doom metal. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
Clear vocals can also be heard briefly along with the clean sections of the songs also adding in a lot of post rock touches as well as one song also adding in a brief use of whispered vocals. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover self destruction and self discovery themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording form Witching and if you are a fan of post black, sludge, doom and death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Last You, Fell From Divinity" "A Grave Mistake" and "So Young, So Useless". 8 out of 10.
