Vortex are a band from Rimouski, Quebec, Canada that plays a very melodic and orchestra orientated from of blackened death metal and this is a review of their self released 2023 album "The Future Remains In Oblivion".
Orchestrations start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs while also bringing in a lot of symphonic elements. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a lot of blast beats.
Vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls while the riffs also add in a lot of melody. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a lot of melody along with the mid tempo sections of the songs also bringing in a touch of metalcore, choirs are also added on some of the tracks
Vortex plays a musical style that takes symphonic black, melodic death metal and metalcore and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based upon science fiction themes.
In my opinion Vortex are a very great sounding melodic and symphonic mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "From The Sun" "Our Possible End" and "When No More Words Will Be Heard". 8 out of 10.
