Se, josta ei puhuta are a band from Finland that plays a melodic mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Gehenna" which will be released on April 22nd by Inverse Records.
Field recordings and clean playing starts off the album while synths can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier direction. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard along with the vocals being a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with one song also adding in a brief use of acoustic guitars as well as some tremolo picking also being added into some of the faster riffing and as the album progresses keyboards and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly.
Se, josta ei puhuta plays a musical style that takes the melodic forms of black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover death, misery and the dark side of human nature.
In my opinion Sem josta ei puhuta are a very great sounding melodic mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Gehenna" "Murskaa unelmat" "Jättiläisten olkapäiltä" and "Suureen tuntemattomaan". 8 out of 10.
