Iomair are a band from Ontario, Canada that plays a mixture of progressive, folk, black and melodic death metal with some elements of Latin and funk music and this is a review of their self titled 2018 album which was released by Infamous Butcher Records.
Stringed instruments start off the album and also mix in with the heavier sections of the music while death metal growls can also be heard at times along with black metal screams also being used quite a bit throughout the recording while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
At times the music gets very progressive while clean vocals can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of blast beats along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic style as well as some tracks also adding in acoustic guitars.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while elements of Latin and fink music are also added into certain sections of the recording along with the riffs also bringing in a great amount of melody as well as some of the tracks being very long and epic in length and one track also brings piano's onto the recording and as the album progresses they also bring in an instrumental.
Iomair plays a musical style that progressive, folk, black, melodic death metal, Latin and funk music and mixes them together to create something very original sounding, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover real life themes.
In my opinion Iomair are a very great sounding mixture of progressive, folk, black and melodic death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cast Away" "Embodiment Of Emptiness" "Yearning" and "Forever travelling Within". 8 out of 10.
