  Evocatus  are  a  band  from  Australia  that  plays  a  symphonic  mixture  of  folk,  melodic  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Inevitable  Death"  which  will b e  released  on  August  29th  by  WomHoleDeath  Records.

  Symphonic  and  orchestral  sounds  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while t he  harsh  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  mixed  in  with  a  few  blackened  screams  and  elements  of  thrash  metal a re  also  utilized  at  times.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilzied  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  blast beats  are  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.  When  clean  playing  is  utilzied  they  also  add  in  influences  of  folk  music  along  with  the  album  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well a s  a  later  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  female  vocals.  

  Evocatus  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  folk,  symphonic,  melodic  death  and  thrash  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Mythology  and  Death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Evocatus  are  a  very  great  sounding  symphonic  mixture  of  folk  melodic  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Serpent  Of  Chaos"  "In  Craves  Unknown"  "The  Siren's  Call"  and  "A  Fate  Worse  Then  Death".  8  out  of  10.

  Progeny  Of  Sun  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  brutal  and  melodic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Prophets  Of  The  Void"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Inverse  Records.

  A  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  mixed  in  with  a  few  black  metal  screams  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  blast  beats  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  black  metal  style  tremolo  picking  is  also  added  into  some  of  the  faster  riffing.  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized.

  Synths  are  also  added  into  the  background  at  times along  with a  later  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words  and  as  the  album  progresses  clear  singing  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Anti  Religion,  Humanity,  Nonconformity  and  Freedom  Of  Speech.    

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Progeny  Of  Sun  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  brutal  and  melodic  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Swarmspawn"  "Decimation"  "Diary  Ender"  and  "Forsaken  Brigade".  8  out  of  10.

  Norway's  Brotthogg  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  melodic  and  progressive  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2025  album  "Ved  Veis  Ende"  which  will  be  released  in  September.

  A  very  fast  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  elements  of  thrash  metal  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  album  also  has  its  progressive  moments.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  melody  as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  a  few  songs  also  brings  in  more  of  an  angry  shouting  style  of  vocals  and  some  tracks  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  synths.

  On  this  recording  Brotthogg  focuses  more  on  a  melodic  and  progressive  style  of  black  metal  as  well  as  mixing  in  elements  of  death  and  thrash  to  create  a  very  heavy  album.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  philosophy,  misanthropy  and  folklore  themes.

Agenbite Misery/Remorse Of Conscience/2026 Full Length Review

 

  Agenbite  Misery  are  a  band  from  New  Hampshire  that  plays  an  experimental  mixture  of  black  and  sludge  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  album  "Remorse  Of  Conscience"  which  will  be  released  in  2026.

  A  very  distorted  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  spoken  words  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  vocals  bring  in  a  mixture  of  black  emtal  screams,  death  metal  growls  and  sludge  style  shouts  and  a  lot  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Influences  of  hardcore  and  power  violence  can  also b e  heard  at  times  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  Elements  of  funeral  doom  metal  can  also b e  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  album  also  having  its  experimental  moments  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  melodic  style.  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  some  of  the  tracks  as  well  as  some  ambient  style  textures  also  being  utilized  at  times,  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  fast  riffing.  

  Some  of  the  riffing  also  brings  in  the  classic  noise  rock  style  as  well  as  each  song  also  sounding  very  different  from  each  other.  Synths  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  album  along  with  one  song  also  bringing  in  more  of  an  industrial  and  post  punk  style  mixed  in  with  a  touch  of  blackgaze,  programmed  beats  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  and  some  tracks  also  adds  in  touches  of  noise,  drone,  indie  rock,  dungeon  synth  and  psychedelia.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  writings  of  James  Joyce.

  Greece's  PreEmptive  Strike  0.1  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of  dark  electro,  ebm  and  industrial  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2025  album "un[Re]leased  Strikes.

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  electronic  industrial  direction while  all  of  the  drum  beats  are  programmed.  Synths  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  harsh  screams  mixed  in  with  a  few  back  up  shouts.

  Clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  the  album  also  adds  in  a  lot  of  EBM  elements  and  a  lot  of  the  tracks  are  also  re-mixes  of  previous  recordings.  One  song  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  female  vocals  and  one  track  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  blast  beats  and  black  metal  elements  and  melodic  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard  briefly..

  On  this  recording  PreEmptive  Strike  0.1  focuses  more  on  a  dark-electro  industrial  style  with  elements  of  ebm.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  violence  and  war.
