Avdagata Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

-Completely overwhelmed by all the positive feedback, all the people who have heard, all the reviews, all the amazing people who made pre-orders and are still discovering Avdagata!

2.Towards the end of June, you had released your first full length, musically how does it differ from your previous ep?

- There has been an extreme development since the EP.

We wrote and recorded the EP in less than 2 weeks. On the album we have found our "own" sound, the whole album has a great variety without it derailing.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters from the previos ep?

-Topics like Luciferianism, KaosGnosticism.

The song writing process has evolved, completely different focus. Which is clearly heard on The Faceless One.

4.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

- It is made by Danny 'The Destroyer' Eriksson. One word that sums it up well is DEATH!

5.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?

- No we havent done any live shows yet. But we will do some live shows, I can't say when but it will happen.

And of course we are open for suggestions.

6.On the new album you had a good amount of guests, can you tell us a little bit more about who they are and also their contributions to the recording?

-Cristopher Amott (Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility) is a close friend of mine, he plays the first guitar solo on Shimmering Black and all the guitar solos on Noxifer.

Dean Paul Arnold (Primalfrost, Vital Remains, Hate, Belphegor) plays all the guitar solos on The sulphur fire, Cold seed of the dragon and the guitar solo after the first chorus on Shimmering Black.

Patrik Gardberg (Solution.45) plays the outro guitar solo on Shimmering Black.

The magical female vocals on Shimmering Black is Bea Jarlgren.

7.The new album was released on 'At Dawn Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

-This is a new born label from Sweden, created by Henric Liljesand. They will release all things metal, but mostly black and death metal. They have at last 3 more releases this fall, as well as a new version of our album.

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

- It has been absolutely incredibly good! From all possible countries over the world. The reviews too! Feels good as hell.

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

-Jaloma is busy with Dark Funeral and Night Crowned.

Allsvart writes songs for Ulverheim.

I (Sebb Drago) will continue with Kythrone, and some guest vocal appearances.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

-We have already started writing material for the next album. We develop all the time.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

-A lot of hard rock, metal from the 80s.

12.Does Occultism play any role in your music?

-I, Sebb Drago writes all the lyrics. So I can only speak for myself. I have been interested, studied and practiced Kali, Luciferianism and KaosGnosticism for a very long time.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

-Thank you for your interest in Avdagata and for the interview!

And thanks to everyone who supports Avdagata! / Sebb Drago
