Hierarchy/2022 Promo Review

 

  Hierarchy  are  a  band  from  new  York  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  melodic  and  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2022  promo.

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  promo  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  musical  direction.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  all  of  the  music  also  sticking  to  a  heavier  direction,  synths  can  also b e  heard  briefly  on  the  closing  track.

  On  this  recording  Hierarchy  remain  true  to  the  melodic  and  blackened  style  of  death  metal  that  they had  established  on  their  previous  release.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism,  Ritual  Magick  and  Spiritual  Enlightenment  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hierarchy  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  melodic  and  blackened  death  emtal,  you  should  check  out  this  promo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Heretic  Within"  and  "Ave  Satanas".  8  out  of  10.
