Caedeous are a duo from Portugal that plays a symphonic form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2022 ep "Obscurus Perpetua" which will be released in March.
Spoken word parts and orchestration starts off the ep which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Operatic female vocals can also be heard on most of the tracks while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody along with the music also adding in a lot of grim black metal screams.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. At times the recording also gets vert symphonic sounding along with some tracks also adding in a small amount of growls, all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and clear male vocals can also be heard briefly.
Caeseous plays a style of black metal that is very symphonic and extreme sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Caedeous are a very great sounding symphonic black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Tormentis Aeterna" and "Damnatio memoriae". 8 out of 10.
