Atrium Noctis are a band from Germany that plays a melodic and symphonic mixture of black and dark metal and this is a review of t heir self released and self titled 2022 album which will b e released in February.
Winter sounds and bells start off the album before going into more of a symphonic musical direction which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard.
A lot of t he music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era while death metal growls can also be heard at times. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the music also adding in a decent amount of dark metal elements as well as one song also introducing female vocals onto the recording, flutes and classical guitars can also be heard briefly on a couple of songs and as the album progresses a small amount of whispers and spoken word parts are also utilized. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of English and German and cover Nature, Occultism, Mythology and Fantasy themes.
In my opinion Atrium Noctis are a very great sounding melodic and symphonic mixture of black and dark metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Azazel" "Ancient Whispers" and "Spuren eines Wolfes". 8 out of 10.
