Centinex/With Guts And Glory/Black Lion Records/2025 Full length Review

 

  Sweden's  Cintinex  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  old  school  and  melodic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  with  elements  of  thrash,  death'n'roll  and  d  beat  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "With  Guts  And  Glory"  which  was  released  by  Black  Lion  Records.

  A  very  hard  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  along  with  the  mid  tempo  sections  also  adding  in  some  d  beats  and  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in t he  classic  Swedish  style.

  Some  of  the  riffing  also  shows  an  influence  of  thrash  metal  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  elements  of  death'n'roll,  when  screams  are  utilized  they  also  add  in  a  touch  of  black  metal  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  some  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  On  this  recording  Centinex  focuses  more  on  a  mixture  of  death,  thrash  metal,  d  beat  and  death'n'roll  which  is  also  very  different  from  their  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  apocalypse  and  war  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Centinex  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  Swedish  death metal  with  elements  of  black, thrash  metal,  d  beat  and  death'n'roll,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "becoming"  "A  Masterpiece  In  Flesh"  and  "Sorrowtears".  8  out  of  10.

Numenor/Runes Of Power/Elevate Records/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Serbia's  Numenor  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  epic,  melodic  and  symphonic  mixture  of  black,  death  and  power  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Runes  Of  Power"  which  will  be  released  on  November  21st  by  Elevate  Records.

  A  very  hard  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.  Clear  vocals  are  done  in  more  of  a  power  metal  style  style  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  sounding  very  powerful  and  symphonic  sounds  are  also  mixed  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  grim  black  metal  screams  are  also  utilized  at  times.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  one  song  also introducing  death  metal  growls  onto  the  album.

  Back  up  shouts  are  also  added  on  a  few  tracks  and  a  couple  of  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  keeping  the  main  focus  on  a  mid  tempo  direction  for  most  of  the  album  along  with  one  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing,  spoken  words  are  also  added  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  inspired  by  fantasy  literature  and  mythology.

     End  Of  Dawn  are  a  band  from  Greece  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric,  gothic  and  symphonic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2024  album  "Primordial  Darkness".

  Symphonic  sounding  keyboards  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  Operatic  vocals  are  also  utilized  at  times  which  also  adds  in  touches  of  gothic  metal  while  the  album  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments.  Clean  playing  is  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  some  spoken  words  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  A  couple  of  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  some  death  metal  growls  also  being  used  at  times,  clear  male  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  darkness,  chaos,  damnation,  occultism  and  suffering  themes.

  In  my  opinion  End  Of  Dawn  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric,  gothic  and  symphonic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dawn  of  Decay"  "Stepping  Into  Oblivion"  "The  Fall  Of  The  Rebel"  and  "Breaking  The  Pendulum".  8/5  out  of  10.

  Kentucky's  The  Promise  Of  Plague  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  90's  inspired  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  album  "The  Earth  Above,  A  Grave  Beneath"  which  will  be  released  in  2026.

  High  pitched  black  metal  screams  start  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  slower  sections  of  the  recording  also  add  in  elements  of  doom  metal  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  Spoken  words  are  also  added  on  a  couple  of  tracks  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  also  being  utilized  at  times  as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts

   The  recording  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments  along  with  the  clear  vocals  also  add  in  touches  of  gothic  metal,  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  one  track  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  synths  as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  some  acoustic  guitars,  the  album  also  closes  with  a  Quiet  Riot  cover.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  sorrow  themes.

  Onsetcold  are  a  duo  from  the  United  Kingdom  that  plays  a  very  experimental  and  symphonic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Apocalyptic  Sleep"  which  will  be  released  on  November  28th  by  WormHoleDeath  Records.

  Symphonic  style  orchestration  starts  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  avant  garde  style  clear  singing  while  female  vocals  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  album  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Garde  are  a  duo  from  the  Netherlands  that  plays  viking  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Harbringer  Revenge  And  War"  which  will  be  released  on  November  28th  by  Heidens  Hart.

  Clean  playing  and  synths  start  off  the  album  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  vocals  go  for  more  of  a  clear  viking  metal  style.

  At  times  the  vocals  also  bring  in  the  harshness  of  black  metal  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Elements  of  folk  music  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  one  tracks  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words  along  with  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  also  bringing  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  the  whole  album  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction  with  one  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  fast  playing  and  blast  beats.

  Garde  plays  a  style  of  viking  metal  that  is  very  epic,  melodic  and  mid  tempo  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Paganism,  Vikings  and  Germanic  Mythology.

  Master's Hammer  are  a  band  from  Czechia  that  has  a  history  that  goes  back  to  the  mid  80's  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  experimental  and  avant  garde  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Maldorör  Disco"  which  will  be  released  on  November  26th  by  Darkness  Shall  Rise.

  Synths  and  keyboards  start  off  the  album  and  also  brings  in  elements  of  electronic  music  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  done  in  a  grim  black  metal  style  mixed  in  with  some  touches  of  industrial  while  clear  singing  is  also  utilized  at  times  and  the  recording  also  has  its  avant  garde  moments. 

  All  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction  while  also  avoiding  the  use  of  fast  playing  or  blast  beats.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  sections,  female  vocals  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  songs  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  On  this  recording  Master's  Hammer  goes  for  more  of  a  electronic  and  experimental  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  different  from  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Czech  and  cover  the  traditions  of  their  homeland  and  occultism.
