  Garde  are  a  duo  from  the  Netherlands  that  plays  viking  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Harbringer  Revenge  And  War"  which  will  be  released  on  November  28th  by  Heidens  Hart.

  Clean  playing  and  synths  start  off  the  album  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  vocals  go  for  more  of  a  clear  viking  metal  style.

  At  times  the  vocals  also  bring  in  the  harshness  of  black  metal  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Elements  of  folk  music  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  one  tracks  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words  along  with  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  also  bringing  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  the  whole  album  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction  with  one  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  fast  playing  and  blast  beats.

  Garde  plays  a  style  of  viking  metal  that  is  very  epic,  melodic  and  mid  tempo  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Paganism,  Vikings  and  Germanic  Mythology.

Master's Hammer/Maldorör Disco/Darkness Shall Rise/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Master's Hammer  are  a  band  from  Czechia  that  has  a  history  that  goes  back  to  the  mid  80's  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  experimental  and  avant  garde  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Maldorör  Disco"  which  will  be  released  on  November  26th  by  Darkness  Shall  Rise.

  Synths  and  keyboards  start  off  the  album  and  also  brings  in  elements  of  electronic  music  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  done  in  a  grim  black  metal  style  mixed  in  with  some  touches  of  industrial  while  clear  singing  is  also  utilized  at  times  and  the  recording  also  has  its  avant  garde  moments. 

  All  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction  while  also  avoiding  the  use  of  fast  playing  or  blast  beats.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  sections,  female  vocals  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  songs  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  On  this  recording  Master's  Hammer  goes  for  more  of  a  electronic  and  experimental  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  different  from  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Czech  and  cover  the  traditions  of  their  homeland  and  occultism.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Master's  Hammer  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  experimental  and  avant  garde  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Genesis  P.  Orridge"  "Bochnatky"  "Doppleganger"  and  "Slatina".  8  out  of  10.

Darklore/The Great Elven War/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Darklore  are  a  band  from  Australia  that  plays  a  fantasy  themed  symphonic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released   album  "The  Great  Elven  War"  which  will  be  released  in  2026.

  Nature,  rain  and  thunder  sounds  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  will  all  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Symphonic  and  orchestral  sounds  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  Death  metal  growls  are  also  used  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.  Clean  playing  is  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  album  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized  as  well as  the  music  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  blast  beats  when  the  album  speeds  up  

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  fantasy  themes  inspired  by  the  video  games  of  Skyrim,  The  Witcher  3,  Diablo  and  the  cinematic  epics  Lord  Of  The  Rings  and  Game  Of  thrones.

  The  Human  Tragedy  are  a  band  from  Lexington,  Kentucky  that  plays  a  symphonic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2025  album  "Upon  Waves>  The  infernO".

  Spoken  word  parts  which  return  on  later  tracks  start  off  the  album  while  also  introducing  symphonic  sounds  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  mixed  in  with  some  growls  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  influenced  by  the  mid  90's  era  of  the  genre  with  a  modern  touch.  

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  tremolo  picking  also  being  added  into  the  faster  riffing  at  times.

  Acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  on  in  certain  sections  of  the  album  and  a  few  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  melodic  style  when  they  are  finally  utilized. The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  human  suffering,  resilience  and  the  consequences  of  neglect  and  isolation.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  symphonic  and  orchestral  sounds  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era  of  the  genre.

  Germany's  Mystic  Circle  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  melodic  and  symphonic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Hexenbrand"  which  will  be  released  on  Halloween  by  ROAR.

  Horror  movie  samples  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  direction  while  the  vocals  bring  in  a  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  symphonic  elements  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  recording.
