Eldfaerd are a band from Sweden that plays a melodic mixture of black, pagan, folk and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2022 ep "Skymningsland".
Nature sounds start off the album along with some battle horns a few seconds later before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction. Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams while the songs also mix in a great amount of symphonic elements and clear pagan vocals can also be heard at times.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while a couple of the songs also adds in a brief use of spoken word parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with one of the tracks also introducing folk instruments onto the recording and most of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction, when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard.
Eldfaerd plays a musical style that mixes the melodic forms of black and death metal with pagan and folk metal to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover Norse Sagas and Folk Tales.
In my opinion Eldfaerd are a very great sounding melodic mixture of black, pagan, folk and death metal and if you are a f an of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sjalafrid" and "Huldran". 8 out of 10.
