Tagarot are a band from Austria that plays folk metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 ep "Veleda's Prophecy".
Spoken word parts start off the ep along with some folk instruments a few seconds later that also gives the recording a medieval feeling and aftr the intro heavy and melodic riffs are added into the music along with some female vocals while they still mic the metal and folk parts together throughout the recording.
During the faster sections of the songs a small amount of blast beats can be heard and some songs also bring in a small amount of acoustic guitars and as the ep progresses death metal growls and black metal screams start to make their presence known and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while the songs stick to mostly a mid paced musical direction.
Tagarot plays a style of folk metal that is very epic and melodic while also bringing in the heaviness of black and death metal, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics involve a concept with a Germanic priestess and her fight against imperium Romanum.
In my opinion Tagarot are a very great sounding folk metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Callis Sangiunis" and "Blood Soaked Earth". 8 out of 10.
