Siberian are a band from Sweden that plays a very blackened and progressive form of sludge metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Through Ages Of Sleep" which was released by The Sign Records.
Powerful bass guitars and drum beats start off the album along with some elements of Euroasian music a few seconds later which are also done in more of a metal style and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier and melodic direction along with some screams that are done in a more modern post black metal style.
At times the music gets very progressive along with the heaviness of sludge and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic fashion and some tracks also bring in a small amount of clean playing as well as a brief use of melodic vocals.
Siberian plays a musical style that takes post black, sludge and progressive metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover inner struggles, dystopian, and existentialism themes.
In my opinion Siberian are a very great sounding progressive blackened sludge metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TERACKS INCLUDE "Witness" "Transcend" and "age Of Sleep". 8 out of 10.
