[BOLT]/(04)/Narshardaa Records/dunk! Records/2018 Full length Review

[BOLT]  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  an  instrumental  mixture  of  black,  drone  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "(04)'  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Narshardaa  and  dunk!  Records.

Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  while  the  music  gets  very  repetitive  at  times  along  with  the  synths  bringing  in  elements  of  ambient  when  they  are  utilized  as  well  as  the  songs  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  drones  as  well  as  all  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

No  vocals  or  songwriting  are  ever  utilized  while  the  music  gets  very  atmospheric  at  times  and  when  the  music  gets  heavy  it  brings  in  elements  of  black  and  doom  metal  along  with  all  of the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  on  the  last  rack  the  music  speeds  up  briefly  and  also  brings  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.

[BOLT]  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  drone  and  doom  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  as  well  as  keeping  everything  instrumental  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

In  my  opinion  [BOLT]  are  a  very  great  sounding  instrumental  mixture  of  black,  drone  and  doom  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "[22]".  8  out  of  10.

Primitive Man/Steel Casket/Tartarus Records/2018 EP Review

Denver,  Colorado's Primitive  Man  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  where  they  move  away  from  their  blackened  mixture  of  sludge  and  doom  metal  by  bringing  in  more  of  a  mixture  of  harsh  noise,  drone  and  ambient  and  this  is  a  review  of t heir  2018  ep  "Steel  Casket"  which  will  be  released  on  April  25th  by  Tartarus  Records.

Ambient  style  drones  start  off  the  ep  while  clean  guitars  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  they  give  the  music  more  of  an  experimental  and  avant  garde  feeling  along  with  both  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  after  awhile  power  electronics  and  harsh  noises  make  their  presence  known.

After  awhile  the  music  gets  more  diverse  along  with  both  of  the  tracks  being  instrumentals  along  with  some  natural  noises  also  being  used  at  times  and  both  of  the  songs  sound  very  different  from  each  other.  and  the  acoustic  guitars  have  more  of  a  dominant  sound  on  the  second  track  and  towards  the  end  spoken  word  samples  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

On  this  recording  Primitive  Man  move  way  from t heir  blackened  sludge/doom  metal  style  and  go  into  more  of  an  instrumental  mixture  of  harsh  noise,  drone  and  ambient  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Primitive  Man  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  ambient,  drone  and  harsh  noise,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "A  Life  Of  Turmoil".  8  out  of  10.

Teorema Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Teorema is a metal and rock music project, we try to incorporate doom, sludge and noise rock sounds, nowadays we are generating new sounds at live presentations like free improvisation and incidental noise.

2.So far you have released one album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
It´s very raw, harsh and atmospheric, we recorded it  in a few sessions, we liked to bring a very real stuff, who represents what we are, we think we achieve to show all the stuff we had in mind before working on this production.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
There are few lyrics, but the subjects are inspired by existentialism, pessimism,  anarchism, religious criticism and post-apocalyptic sci-fi.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Teorema'?
We take it primarily from a movie of the italian writer and director Pier Paolo Pasolini, it haves a very inspiring plot based in existentialism and some deep and philosophical subjects.

5.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you planning on expanding the line up in the future or do you chose to remain a duo?
We would like to remain as a duo, but we are planning to incorporate some new sounds, maybe loops or some prerecorded ambient noises, we are working on it.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
I think that our best shows are those that we played this last year, since a line up change, Leo "Mariguanoto" is an amazing drummer and also he brings a very weird show, including some "happening" or "artistic performance" near to contemporary art, our show nowadays is very cathartic, we take the freedom to do any stuff we want, like making free imporvisation, noises or dancing all over the stage, its very funny to us and the people who see us live.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
We are planning to play at two mexican cities this year, we hope that next year we could make a mexican tour or probably an Europe or U.S. tour, our release at Via Nocturna could bring us new possibilities to bring shows a other cities or countries.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your album by fans of underground music?
It has been awesome. Since we have uploaded digital songs, Teorema appeared at different webzines, podcast, compilations and press magazines all over Europe, US, and Latin America, we had great feedback about our music, we are very pleased about that, with the Via Nocturna release we hope more rock/metal fans can hear about us.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We see us growing musically, trying with new stuff, not only with extreme metal, we could incorporate and fusion with other genres, with new rhythms and chord progressions, we would like to play live at many places as we can, and keep on doing weird things alive, keeping our cathartic ritual.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listenin to nowadays?
Mainly extreme metal, some classic bands like Venom, Hell Hammer, Celtic Frost and Bathory, as well some "Sabbath riffs", we like to listen some sludge or doom metal bands like Corrupted, Earth, Melvins, Eyehategod and Iron Monkey, we listen a lot of industrial rock/metal, crust punk, seventies progressive rock, mainly "zheul music" or RIO like Magma and Univers Zero, some jazz stuff, ambient music, noise rock and folk music from Latin America, Europe and Indian music. There is a universe of music to listen and we are open for new stuff to incorporate as a influence to our sound.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?
Many old and weird movies like Begotten from Elias Merhige, visual arts and painters like Egon Schiele, Emil Nolde, H.R. Giger, George Grozs, and philosophy authors like Heidegger, Nietzsche, Michel Foucault and Baruch de Spinoza.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
We have to thank all people that support us, it feels great to read great feedbacks of our music, we play music mainly as a therapy against this sick world in which we live... Music for us is a great ritual and celebration of life. We are full of joy and grateful, because in spite we had no great expectations, many people all over the world are interested our stuff. It´s great for us!

Aethyr Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the record- ing of the new album?

D - We've got the master of the album in our hands by the end of the summer 2014. Since then we've been doing some gigs & making new tracks, thinking about making a record for the future split or EP. New tracks are very different from the CORPUS! Also we were making video for CVLT single.

W - Also we were drawing a new artwork for the release.

2.You have a new album coming out this year, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

D - Aethyr has started as a duo, but now we are four-piece band. It was a long way from blackened-industrial-drone with only Aleister Crowley on the vocals, to the thing we've recorded for CORPUS.

W - I think that we are still trying to find out our own musical sound. We continue to try new things and mix styles in different proportions.

3.This is to be the first full length since 2010 and the first release since the split since 2012, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?

D - After the split came out in 2012 we became full four-piece band and started making all the music together, also making live shows. Music became more and more difficult and when we had enough material we went to the studio, but wasn't really ready. So we've re-recorded the album in 3 different studios during 2013 & 2014. During that time Aethyr came stronger as a band & have made some new tracks that we've decided also to record for the album and leave some old (more drone sounded) tracks behind.

4.Your lyrics cover Occultism and Esoteric Disciplines, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in those topics?

W – As for me, it all has as metaphysical and as poetic sense. In order to understand the world we think of metaphors and signs. It's a way and attempt to look beyond reality. Staying alone with Abyss and comprehend himself and alone with the absolute.

5.I know that the bands name means the fifth element or spirit in occultism, how does this name fit in with the musical style that you play?

D – Our music – is the Aethyr for this world.

W - All our efforts in band it is a way to understand what is it Aethyr.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

W - We have not a many gigs during this time. We play usually where coincides with the spirit and atmosphere of the place and other musicians in small clubs. There was also a memorable experience - a concert in the woods, it was the video material for the video of the single "CVLT" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnhaDGprw_I ).

7. Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

D – Supporting Primordial (IRL) is the nearest one. Tour – maybe.

W - We don’t thinking about that, but we open for any offers.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal, doom and drone?

W - We are just beginning to assert itself, but nevertheless, thanks for the efforts of our label Cimmerian Shade Recordings - more people know about our music. And there are a few positive reviews already. This is very encouraging.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

D - Our new tracks sounds more in melodic-black-death style. We speed up more and more)) Though we have one new classic doom-black track. But anyway - we don't want/don't like to make borders. If someone got a great drone/sludge riff - we'll make it, followed by great death riff, etc.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

D – Oh, there are so many of them…Nihilist, Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares, Ceremonial Oath, Behemoth, Slayer, Amenra, Celeste, Clint Mansell, Gunter Kallmann Chorus, The Ocean, SepticFlesh, Under Byen – to name a few.

W - There are too many. From bands playing dark ambient and drone to True Norwegian Black Metal. Old and relative new. And it's impossible to select one or two. I suppose it is a mixture of all of them )

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

D – Graphic design & photo, but music is the main interest all the time (with other projects & music styles).

W - We involved in art project http://rottenfantom.com/ together with my beautiful wife Elena. We making a dark and mysterious black and white illustrations. It is a second part of my life on a par with Aethyr.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

W - Thanks a lot for the interesting questions. Music is an important part of human culture. It is a mixture that unites people across the globe. Listen to the good music and try not to do anything stupid! )

D – Ave A!

The  album  starts  out  with  dark  experimental  sounds  and  spoken  word  samples  as  well  as  mixing  in  heavier  and  noisier  sounds  along  with  black  metal  vocals  which  leads  to  a  more  drone/doom  metal  direction  along  with  melodic  vocals  and  riffing  and  you  can  also  hear  death  metal  growls  in  the  music.

The  band  also  bring  this  approach  to  other  songs  while  also  bringing  in  more  psychedelic  and  atmospheric  elements  and  on  one  of  the  tracks  they  bring  in  melodic  ritualistic  chanting  and  folk  instruments  while  also  remaining  heavy  at  the  same  time  and  there  are  also  a  good  amount  of  synths  and  organs  being  utilized  on  this  recording  na d towards  the  end  the  music  starts  going  in  a  more  experimental  direction.

With  this  album  Taurus  create  a  very  dark,  heavy  and   ritualistic  sound  while  also  bringing  in  psychedelic  and  experimental  elements  along  with  the  heaviness  of  black  metal,  drone,  doom  and  sludge  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Black  Crow  King  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Legacy  Of  Dust"  and  "The  Beast  Within". RECOMMENDED.

In  conclusion  I  feel t his  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  to  all  fans  of  black  metal,  drone,  doom,  sludge,  experimental  and  noise.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Osman Arabi/Beast Mutation Rituals/Kalpamantra/2011 Album Review

Osman  Arabi  are  a  band  from  Libya  that  plays  dark  ambient/drone  with  a  black  metal  influence  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2011  album  "Beast  Mutation  Rituals"  which  was  released  by  Kalpamantra.

Synths  bring  a  very  dark  ambient  and  atmospheric  drone  sound  to  the  music,  while  the  sound  effects  bring  in  harsh  noise  and  psychedelic  sounds  to  this  long  and  epic  25  minute  song  which  uses  a  variety  of  many  different  sounds,  as  well  as  some  samples  from  black  metal  songs.

Vocals  when  they  are  utilized  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  with  some  spoken  word  samples  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  song  theme  revolves  around  dark  occult  rituals,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Osman  Arabi  are  a  very  great  sounding  dark  ambient/ritual/drone/Black Metal  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED.

Sick To The Back Teeth Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the project for those that have never heard of you before?

yes. sick to the back teeth is a solo music project where i record all kinds of different music. i put no restrictions on myself in terms of style or concept or rules. it's just whatever music i feel like doing. i started using the name in 2002, so this is the tenth year of doing this.

2. How would you describe your musical sound?

there's no one sound for me. i make rock, metal, noise, folk, electronic music, sometimes all in the same piece of music. there are no limitations. i will say that some of it takes an experimental approach but not all of it. and that most of my music is conceptual. especially if it doesn't sound like there's a concept. some of my music isn't about music at all.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the project explores with the music?

so many. i have some albums which deal with very specific subjects and i think these are relatively obvious. i don't like to explain them, though. they are meant to be interpreted by the listener. but speaking very broadly, i tend to come back to some themes often: love, sadness, nature, fantasy.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

sick to the back teeth is an expression that means to be completely fed up of something. i just liked it.

5. Are there any other members involved with the project or is this solo?

it's just me. there are some rare cases where i've had guest musicians or collaborated with people and they are given credit on those songs. but it's mostly me writing all the songs and performing all the music.

6. Currently you are signed to Drowning, how did you get in contact with this label and how would you describe the support they have given you so far?

well, i am not signed to any label. but Drowning is great. i liked the releases that i heard and i liked the aesthetic so i sent in an album. i was glad that they decided to include it. i think it's a good fit.

7. On a worldwide level how has your music been recieved by fans of underground music?

i don't think it has been received much at all. this is the first interview i've been asked to do in five or six years so i don't think anyone is aware of me. about once a year i get an email from someone who says they liked something i did and that's nice. that's about all.

8. Are there any other projects besides this band or is this full time?

i just played in a metal band for a couple of years called Pegasus Void. i played guitar, sang and wrote the songs. our album is coming out soon. it's mostly doom metal but there are are elements of space rock and black metal as well. now i play in a rock duo called the Starling Quintet. it's not metal at all. but i'm never going to stop doing music as sick to the back teeth.

9. What direction do you see your music heaning into on futre releases?

hopefully all different directions. currently i have been recording and releasing one song every week on this blog: http://sick-to-the-back-teeth.tumblr.com/ i also put old releases and previously unreleased material on there.

i will be releasing a new musical score for a film very soon. probably a rock album after that. then, who knows?

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

all different kinds of stuff. although instead of musical influences, i would say that sick to the back teeth is most connected to the surrealist art movement and i would describe most of my music as surrealist music. i'm influenced by dreams.

11. Does Occultism play a role in the music?

no, but that is not to say that i haven't at some point been inspired by the idea of something related to occultism. i'm inspired by all sorts of different things.

12.Outside of music, what are some of your interests?

currently i have a weekly radio show on the greatest radio station in the world, WFMU. my show airs sundays at 3-6am EST and you can listen online at http://www.wfmu.org/

i also enjoy building instruments and effects. i'm writing my second novel.

13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

thank you for taking an interest and i wish you the best of luck with your zine!

Abruptum/In Umbra Maliitae Ambularo In Aeternum In Triumpho Tenebraum/Deathlike Silence Productions/1994 CD Review

Abruptum where a 2 piece band from Sweden that played a slow form of black metal that mixed in drone and noise elements to this music and this is a review of their 1994 album "In Umbra Malitiaj Ambularo" which was released by Deathlike Silence Productions.

Drums are mostly slow beats with no fast playing or blast beats, while the keyboards have a very dark sound that gives the music an evil edge, as for the violin when it is used it has a very noisy and avant garde sound.

Guitars are all slow riffing while the vocals are tortured screams about Satanism, pain, and torture, as for the production on this recording it has a very dark sound that captures all of the instruments and vocals.

In my opinion Abruptum where a very good band that was very original for their time and if you are a true fan  of  black  metal,  you already know who they are. RECOMMENDED BUY.

Speaker Ritual Interview

1. Can You tell us a little bit about your project for those that are not familiar with your music?
Speaker Ritual itself came to be by default. I am the soul creator for the Black Metal band Ssenkrad. During the summer of 2009, Ssenkrad was on a sort of hiatus. I had created many intros and outros for the past and present Ssenkrad albums. While reviewing said Intros/outros, I began to listen to them differently, and fortunately became a starting point to creating more of the like, hence Speaker Ritual was born.

2. Where did you come up with the band name?
I have always been a fan of Drone, Sunn))), Boris, Earth, just to name a few. There was a Boris record called Amplifier Worship, I thought that was a stellar name for a band. I was afraid that if I used that title people would think I was riding the coat tails of Boris. So basically I used the same meaning, just different words. But Speaker Ritual is just that really, using the speakers as a forum to produce music for a form of invocation/conjuration of the song titles. Feelings, and places, realms so to speak. Not words and music, like eddie and the cruisers movie stated.

3. What is it that you are trying to accomplish with this project that you cannot do with your other band?
Alot of it has to do with the fact that when I was young and my mother let me watch Suspiria(Dario Argento)The music to that film scared the shit out of me. Of course others came along, John Carpenters own produced audio for Halloween and Precinct 13, to name a few. Those audio soundscapes took me somewhere, not like regular music, it gave me feeling, not just happiness or anger, but like a story was written in music form, and I could take it or it could take me anywhere it wanted to. They had so much presence. So I look to do those same things as well. If you read every title of a Speaker Ritual song, they mean something. Google them in your spare time, and you will learn the meaning behind every song that has ever be created.

4. How have your live shows been so far?
My home town has no scene at all for this style of music. Fortunately I've been excepted at alot of the College towns, because of there favor of ambient and noise/drone. So far I've played alot in Athens Ohio(Ohio University) the people except me, the clubs and bars except me as well so its been righteously received Their is more of a draw because of the diversity.

5. What are some goals that you have set out for this project?
Personally, I've never enjoyed producing/creating music more then I do for Speaker Ritual. I think I would fit in quite nicely opening up for Sunno))). But in lower more realistic expectations, I would like to be comfortable creating music for a certain fanbase that I could continue and make my sole aspiration in life. It would be nice to have Speaker Ritual be a full time job, it's that fun....

6. o you have any touring plans?
Right now I dont promote, so I take what ever is offered. Basically I get emails, and I show up.

7. According to your Myspace page you direct some movies and have a company dedicated to movies, what are some films that you have directed and how would someone be able to get ahold of some of them?
Film was my original muse, during early 2000 I made a few movies. They were mainly made for the sole purpose of friends and people in my home town, I've never tried to market them. I've made in the past a cartoon, dark evil stick style to live audio entitled "Born into Submission", a black and white silent live action film entitled "EVOL" and a series of compilation films entitled "Snuff Fuck" I currently have two Vols. Unfortunately I cant really advertise those, they are very graphic in nature. The series really took off for a while. For example, I would talk to someone on the internet about it and send them a copy, and with in a few days I'd get 50 emails stating that so and so showed them this sick ass film with reality death and porn mixed together, and wanted to know how to buy a copy. What can I say, faces of death had a huge barring on me as a child. You can see the trailers for the first two on the 60060 sixscore myspace page, but the Snuff Fuck, would be by mail order only. I guess if anyone was interested they could just message me.

8. What are some of the influences for Speaker Ritual music wise or non music wise?
First and foremost Goblin, the main staple of all Dario Argento films. They are a great ambient band from Italy. Sunno))), alot of people seem to see a connection there, recently I was told it reminded them of Abruptum? Maybe Danzig's Black Aria, and Burzum's Daudi Balders and Hildga...what ever? Early Boris, and Earth to name a few. But the biggest influence is my home town and county I live in. It is so rich in history and infamous characters(Mansfield Ohio/RichLand County) every song written so far has been a concept of said people or places with a story inter twined.
9. How has the feedback been to your music so far from extreme music fans worldwide?

I get the most praise from the Black Metal community, but some are Drone fans as well. People into the same things as me mostly.

10. Out off all the releases that you have done so far which one are you the most satisfied with?
So far the only Speaker Ritual album available is "Misteri Di contea di Richland" it is a concept record regarding any and all famous and infamous histories surrounding Richland county. Like I said before, google the names from the titles, to get a better understanding of what it is to be invoked. I'm close to finishing part 2 of Misteri...it should be ready by April.

11. Have you received any backlash from fans of your other band that expect to hear the same thing over and over with?
Not at all, most of them send praise. There has not been any limitations or expectation set.

12. What direction do you see the music heading into on future releases?
Hopefully a more international audience were I can concept worldly happenings instead of soley representing my home town.

13. Any final words or thoughts?
Speaker Ritual creates a feeling that represents reality, not fiction. There are no fairy tales, everything is 100% real. Search what is given, then feel what was written......

Black Roller Crop Rotation Interview

1. Can you give us a brief history of the band!
Ben and I have known each other for about a year and a half now and have been playing music together in an Ambient/Instrumental band called NORTHERN VALENTINE. We started BRCR awhile back to explore our fascination with dark ambient/drone/doom/black metal and it has become an obsession for us.

2. What releases have you put out so far!
We are currently working on recording and mixing our first full length album tentatively called, "PRAYERS FROM THE ROTTING SOIL"

3. When can we expect new material!
The Album should be done sometime in March and will most likely be released by GEARS OF SAND RECORDINGS

4. Are there any plans for a tour!
We haven't talked about it yet! We both have many other things going on(family, work, and hordes of other projects)but things are going so well and this has been so amazing so far, I certainly wouldn't rule it out!

5. What are some of the best shows you have played so far!
This has been a studio only project so far but we are playing two shows in March and hopefully many more as time goes on. We will be booking as much as possible!

6. How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you before!

Dark pummeling heavy doom, noise obsessed with devastation, destruction and loss. Meditative atonement.

7. What are some of your main influences music wise or non music wise, I can hear a bit of Abruptum and Black Pentacost in your sound!

We are both really into Abruptum and black metal in general. WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, MOSS, NADJA, ASVA,NEUROSIS, NAPALM DEATH, LIGHT OF SHIPWRECK,PRURIENT,DARKTHRONE,CRASS, are some bands that I think have directly influenced us. I'm not familiar with Black Pentacost but I'm gonna check them out as soon as I'm done writing this up! As far as non-musical influences I always have my head in a book, reading is a huge part of my life. I also have a huge affinity for the outdoors.

8. What rule does Satanism, Occultism, Left Hand Path or Anti-Christianity play in your music and life!
Satanism, the occult, ect. have been fascinating to me since I was a young kid. I'm sure they are an influence on our music as well, but for the most part this band draws its influence from natural disasters and ecological devastation and the awe that comes from the realization that you are not at the top of the food chain, and not the center of the fucking universe.

9. What are some good books or films that you would recommend!
As I said earlier I am a huge reader. I just finished a fantastic book by ROBERT KULL called, "Solitude:Seeking Wisdom In Extremes." The author spend a year in solitude in the Patagonia wilderness. Intense, brutal stuff, very fucking metal! I love books on Arctic Exploration. "In the land of the white death" by Valerian Albanov and "Noose of Laurels" by Wally Herbert are two of my favorites. Basically, if it's good writing I'm into it, mysteries, politics, spirituality, nature writing, philosophy, history. If its good, its good. Lets see, films.. I recently saw and loved "No Country for old men" and "In The Year Of The Pig"(documentary about the Vietnam war)

10. What are you listening to these days and what good bands that you would recommend!
There is no shortage of great stuff. I've currently been listening to a lot of OM, ASVA, NADJA, MOSS,BLACK FLAG,CASKET ARCHITECTS. Some great experimental stuff, HUMANS ARE THE WORST INVENTION, BELLTONE SUICIDE. Some great ambient stuff as well, ANDREW WEATHERS, MY EMPTY PHANTOM, anything on GEARS OF SAND, FDH, OR SILBER RECORDS.

11. How would you describe the music scene in the East Coast and what are some good bands that you would recommend!
The scene out here is probably about the same as it is anywhere. You got some really great, dedicated, inspired and interesting people that I'm so glad to know and be involved with and of course, you have tons of jerks. I would recommend checking out anything on the above mentions record labels, GEARS OF SAND, FDH and SILBER RECORDS.

12. Any final words!yes! Thank you so much for the interview, it means a lot to us. BLACK ROLLER CROP ROTATION is going to be very very busy in 2009 so please get in touch with us. We are really nice people. Thanks again! -Jeffrey
