Jotungrav/Elegi/Inverse Records/2026 Full length Review

  Jotungrav  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  a  progressive  mixture  of  black  and  folk  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of t heir  2026  album  "Elegi"  which  was  released  by  inverse  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  synths  also  take  the  music  into  more  of  a  progressive  direction.  Harsh  vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  all  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  album  also  adds  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.  Folk  instruments  and  acoustic  guitars  are  also  used  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  some  clear  singing  also  being  utilized  at  times,  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Jotungrav  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  folk  and  progressive  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Finnish  and  cover  Nordic  Mythology. 

  In  my  opinion  Jotungrav  are  a  very  great  sounding  progressive  mixture  of  black  and  folk  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  duo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Vansinnesvisdom"  and  "Elegi".  8  out  of  10.

Green Carnation/A Dark Poem, Part III: The Messiah Complex/Season Of Mist/2026 Full Length Review

  Green  Carnation  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  plays  an  avant  garde,  experimental  and  progressive  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  gothic  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  20256  album  "A  Dark  Poem,  part  III;  The  Messiah  Complex"  which  was  released  by  Season  Of  Mist.

  Keyboards  and  synths  start  off  the  album  while  also  mixing  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  while  the  slower  riffs  also  add  in  elements  of  doom  metal.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  the  vocals  adding  in  more  of  a  clear  singing  style.

  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental and  progressive  sounding  while  also  adding  in  touches  of  gothic  metal.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  a  couple  of  tracks also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  harsh  black  metal  screams   

  Effects  are  also  used  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  album  along  with  some  flutes  and  organs  also  being  introduced  on  later  tracks.  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well some  spoken  words  also  being  used  at  times  and  the  closing  track  brings  in  more  of  an  orchestral  style.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  melancholy  and  poetic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Green  Carnation  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  avant  garde,  experimental  and  progressive  black,  doom  and  gothic  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Unconditional  Artificial  Chemistry"  and "Broken  Souls,  COmmon  Enemies".  8  out  of  10.

  Forsaken  Eternity  are  a  band  from  Portland,  Oregon  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  an  atmospheric,  melodic  and  symphonic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  ep  "Shades  Of  Existence"  which  was  released  by  Rottweiler  Records.

  A  very  heavy,  melodic  and  symphonic  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  solos  and  leads  also  add  in  a  lot  of  melody.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  mixed  in with  some  death  metal  growls  as  well  as  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats.

  Throughout  the  ep  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  music  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  technical  sounding  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  spoken  words  can  also be  heard  briefly  and  acoustic  guitars  are  also  added  towards  the  end.

  On  this  recording  Forsaken  Eternity bring  out  a  very  atmospheric,  melodic,  symphonic  and  technical  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Fantasy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Forsaken  Eternity  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  melodic,  atmospheric, technical  and  symphonic  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Adrift  In  A  Twisted  Ethereal"  and  "Celestial  Witch".  8 out  of  10.

Urarv/Nychta Psychis/Darkness Shall Rise/2026 Full Length Review

  Urarv  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  has  bene  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  avant  garde  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Nychta  Psychis"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Darkness  Shall  Rise.

  A  very  heavy  and  avant  garde  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  bring  in  more  of  an  angry  black  metal  style.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  most  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  blast  beats  are  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.

  Tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  faster  riffing  while  the  album  also  adds  in a   good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  guitar  leads  also  expanding  on  the  avant  garde  style,  acoustic  guitars  are  also  added  on  a  few  tracks as  well  as  some  of  the  riffing  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  the  recording  also  adds  in  a  decent  amount  of  synths. 

  On  this  recording  Urarv  continue  to  expand  on  the  avant  garde  style  of  black  metal t hat  they  have  introduced  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  esoteric  and  emotional  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Urarv  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  avant  garde  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Nychta  Psychis"  and  "Youniverse".  8  out  of  10.
